A magically illustrated story about Miyuki, a girl waiting for a sleepy flower to open. When, on the first day of spring, the flower still hasn’t bloomed she begins a frantic search for water to wake it up. Calming her search, her grandfather gently encourages her to sit and watch with him, as she learns the importance of peacefully waiting.

Roxane Marie Galliez is a French writer, poet, and children’s book author. She has a doctorate in the history of ancient civilizations and traveled the Pacific Islands for several years as a researcher and journalist before embarking on writing children's books. Her character of Miyuki appears in several of her stories, each one exploring hard won virtues of understanding patience, solitude and sleep.

Seng Soun Ratanavanh is a Laotian illustrator and painter living outside Paris, France. Inspired by Japanese art, her use of watercolour and repeat patterns create the gently surreal garden through which Miyuki travels on the first day of spring.
